Sometimes the pain of losing a baby is overlooked since their time on Earth may have been very short. Did you know that parents form an emotional bond with their child long before birth? The love for a child is the strongest love one can feel, and a pregnancy loss is a loss of a child that should have been.
1 in 160 pregnant women will experience stillbirth, and 1 in 4 pregnancies will end in miscarriage, stillbirths, or other tragic events shortly after birth. The pain of losing a child can’t even be put into words.
How Love for Leah bags were formed
A sweet baby girl named Leah, who was loved more than anything in this world, went to heaven on December 29th 2011 and was born sleeping December 30th 2011 at 39 weeks gestation. Leah had a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia which is found in 1 out of 3,000 births. Sweet Leah also had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrom (HLHS) which occurs in 3 out of 10,000 births. Leah’s mom and dad carried her to term knowing her survivial was less than 1%. They wanted her to know all the love, peace, and happiness in the world. Love for Leah bags are an idea inspired by Leah and created by her mom, Jenny, who wants to offer more to families experiencing infant loss. The bags will be filled with items that are valuable to families who are in this tragic situation. Nothing ever helps the pain, but there are little things that offer support and comfort. Parents do not know what to do, how to move forward, how to deliver a baby sleeping, and how to go home with empty arms.
The bags will be given to Cheyenne families while at the hospital so that some of the items can be used to create lasting memories.
